Hi there. Have you ever heard of 'France Loisirs'? Probably not, but I know them. Years ago for a reason that I don't really remember, I was a member. This evening, a couple rang at my bell and they were from France Loisirs. A girl asking questions and a bloke, well what was his role? Not to let the young girl get abused? Anyway they asked me questions about what I was reading and as you all know, I am reading 'London, the novel' at the moment. Well do you ready this that and the other I had to tell them that I wouldn't be on their list as I love reading novel by Gay writers like David Leavitt. Anyway I asked them in and he saw my DVD of Beaches (gay icon) and Ken Park (I'm not sure what that is) anyway, if he gives me a call I'll just say 'Hallelujah".

This and that.
This morning I decided to do some reading for pleasure. At the moment I am reading 'London, the novel' by Edward Rutherfurd. It is a dramatised history of London from Celtic times. While reading fiction you also pick up pieces of information about London, well known people and other general information. Did you know for example that the days of the week in English come from Norse origin? Tuesday - Tiw's day (Tiw, god of battle and victory), Wednesday - Woden's day (Woden/Odin, father and ruler of the gods and mortels, god of war, learning poetry and the dead), Thursday - Thor's day (Thor, god of thunder and the sky, and good crops; son of Odin and Frigg) and Friday - Frigg's day (Frigg, wife of Odin, great mother of the gods, goddess of married love).
Well, today I have been reading about William the Conqueror and the building of the Tower of London. I also found out that his son, William II, (1087-1100) was gay! Well this sent me off to the realms of the internet to find out more about him and about other gay monarchs! (Life is so interesting!)
Research on the net, just like looking things up in encyclopaedias, take you from one subject to the next, so I have found out about 'porphyria' as this is what George III is thought to have suffered from. At the end of my research I had completely forgotten what the origin of my research was as I had ended up becoming a member of Vimeo.com, which is a site where you can upload your movies!!
So my question was, before beginning my blog today, 'Is spending time on the internet a waste of time'? My answer is that I think not but it is time consuming.
By the way here are some pictures of William II and the Tower of London.

And of course, speaking of William we can't forget the big day tomorrow: The Royal Wedding! William and Kate, so here they are.

What's it all about?
A few days ago I found out that after working without a holiday since October 2010, I had 5 and a half days holiday to take before the end of May. Here in France you have to work up the holiday you have, probably the same everywhere, but as a teacher I have always had the school holidays. I now work in one of the Universities that I taught and still teach in, but I am in charge of the languages department and changed my status. I am no longer classed as a teacher, although I teach the second largest load of hours in the department, I am a manager and so my holidays have changed. Holidays here go from May to June so coming in in October, I have no holiday for this year. Anyway I have a few days off now but as I couldn't book anything I am going to stay at home.
My life has been based on travel. I love getting away, seeing new places, meeting new people. So why the title? Well yesterday I was thinking about my life. I am alone, a single person - I don't seem to be able to keep my partners! Must say something about me but I must admit, I am not too sure what. I have a son, so I have done my bit there, and I seem to have very few friends. So what's it all about?
That is the question I am trying to answer at the moment and once I have come to a decision, I'll do something about my life.

Semaine des Arts
15 au 22 avril 2011
It is 'La semaine des Arts' at CPE Lyon. The students organise this week putting on all types of performances: short films, fashion show, play, a musical, a musical evening and a caberet. This evening it was the opening, a taste of the week with a play about a couple of friends fron CPE finding themselves in Bora Bora and the story of their journey back to CPE as one of them had a meeting with to find an intership. It was very funny and if this is what the week is going to be like, well, it is going to be fun.

Saint-Jacques...La Mecque
