At Risk by Stella Rimington

 Yesterday I finished reading the novel 'At Risk' by Stella Rimington. Stella Rimington was the head of the MI5 from 1992-1996 and her books, which are fictional, are about MI5 and in particular, a woman working their called Liz Carlyle who works for MI5.

My e-bike - quel bonheur.

 Hi everyone! Yes, that there are 100s of 1000s of people reading my blog!! Anyway, Hi to all those who do read my blog.

In June I got an e-bike from Decathlon. It is a btwin Riverside

and it has just helped me so much. At first it is a little strange because when the power takes off on the flat you really feel that you don't have much to do, however, when in the kind of terrain where I live, hills etc, it really helps you get up those long not too steep climbs. Once I have had to get off and push it (25 kg) for about 200 metres so it was easier in the end to get back on and ride the rest of the way. 

You have to learn to play with the power and the gears. 

One note on the not so bright side is that the 90 km limit they talk about is on the flat using power 1, which lets you go no faster than 17 km an hour. Power 2 should let you do about 70 kms but power 3 really eats up the electricity and will only help you up to 25kms. I suppose that is for a couple of reasons, 1 being that it eats up the electricity and secondly, the law in France doesn't allow an e-bike go any more than 25 kms an hour. In my opinion this is a little slow as on a conventional bike, you can get up a much faster speed. 

One thing it has done for me, is to get me out almost every day which is good for the morale and even though there is some help, it is good for my body.
